What is the mandate of the ONE City Scholarship Fund?
To provide financial support, in addition to mentoring and other support mechanisms, to students who have excelled in high school and who had to manage the stresses of growing up facing major challenges.
In addition, to tell a different story about students who come from neighbourhoods that often receive negative attention.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
The scholarship is open to students graduating from a TDSB high school.
What is the amount of the scholarship?
Each year, we award four scholarships of $2500: $1500 in the first year; $1,000 in the second year.
What are the criteria for the scholarship?
A successful candidate will be attending college or university after graduating from a TDSB high school, will have achieved at a high level, and has experienced significant challenges. The candidate will have financial need.
Who runs the ONE City Scholarship Fund?
ONE City is run by a steering committee of volunteers, most of whom are secondary school teachers in the TDSB. A growing number of community members are also volunteers.
Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
Donations of $25 or more are eligible for a charitable tax receipt from the Toronto Foundation.
